CRAM welcomes the participation of the following organizations and companies:

The main objectives of the CRAM Foundation are research, rehabilitation and protection of the marine ecosystems and the species living there. We are working to develop new research and conservation projects from our headquarters in the Natural Area of Prat de Llobregat. Together with other scientific associations, we aim at stopping the decline of marine species in our closest marine habitat, the Mediterranean Sea. That is why we want to spread our message both at the national and international levels, so that we can achieve the total recovery of the marine ecosystems and all the creatures that depend on them.

Our activities gravitate around 4 main concepts: habitat and species, research campaigns, fishing interaction and climate change.

HABITATS AND SPECIES

Projects:

Sea Volunteers: Study of abandoned fishing nets on the seabed.
Condition of the oceanic Posidonia meadows in the Catalan coastline (2006-2007).
Pilot test to implement research systems of the sea bottoms.
Categorization of habitats of the monk seal in the Mediterranea Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
IBA Program (Area of Interest in Ornitology) Sea birds on the Atlantic islands: Savage, Madeira and Desert.
Research on the distribution of sea birds and cetaceans in “El Cachucho” area.
Exploration of the Cadiz gulf through a submarine robot and acoustic transects.
Research on the population of Cory’s Shearwaters in Menorca’s north coast.
Research on the population of sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) in the Balearic Islands.
Shark protection.

RESEARCH CAMPAIGNS

The CRAM Foundation works as an exploration platform, offering its resources and infrastructure to a vast array of conservation projects, both within the foundation and through other research groups.

Projects:

Research on the distribution of sea birds and cetaceans in “El Cachucho” area.
Exploration of the Cadiz gulf through a submarine robot and acoustic transects.
Exploration of the depth limit in the distribution of the invading seaweed Caulerpa racemosa.
Research on the belugas in Alaska.
Resarch on the cetaceans bioacoustics.
New techniques for the evaluation of acoustic pollution on the populations of cetaceans.
Research on the sperm whale population (Physeter macrocephalus) in the Balearic Islands.
Dispersion of invading species through plastic and floating objects.

FISHING INTERACTION

The CRAM Foundation believes it is essential to cooperate with the fishing industry to achieve its goals: minimizing the impact of fishing on the marine environment and achieving a more sustainable exploitation.

Projects:

Reduction of accidental captures of marine turtles in dragging nets: Turtle Excluder Devices (TED).
Sharks and rays. Contribution to their conservation and regulation in fisheries.
Article on shark fishing in Spain.
Clinical research on the injuries caused by circle hooks in the digestive tract of marine turtles.
Research on the impact of drift nets on endangered species.
Impact of palangre (multiple fishing line) in the Balearic Islands.
Ajudem-la (Let’s help her).
