There are a very few indicators of health of our oceans that show better the own state of conservation of marine mammals populations. Distributed by all seas and oceans of the planet, these animals have long cycle life, integrate themselves in complex social groups and they are located in the highest positions of the marine chain trofic, reason why they concentrate the polluting agents, they are exposed to pathogenic organisms and allow to visualize many of the interactions between the marine habitat and the human.

Throughout seventy million years of adaptation to the marine habitat, the cetaceans have developed the changes necessary to use the sound waves to orient themselves, to communicate or to feed themselves. Unfortunately, from mid century XX, the proliferation of motors, helices, sonars and explosions have turned the oceans noisy means that make difficult the communication, direction and feeding of the cetaceans.
